Three distinguished individuals, including a community college president, a member of the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉçAthletic Hall of Fame, and a former dean and researcher, were inducted into the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç’s Society of the Golden Key during a ceremony at the Bell Conference Center, Thursday, Jan. 30.

The last day of the year 2024 will mark the end of a chapter for the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç, and it will mark the end of an era for outgoing President Ken Tucker. Having led the University for the past 10 years, Tucker will be retired on January 1, 2025, leaving a legacy of unprecedented growth and development.
The Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç honored retiring president Dr. Ken Tucker during commencement exercises on December 13, naming him President Emeritus upon his forthcoming retirement at the end of the year. Tucker is the first in the institution’s history to be recognized as president emeritus.
The 2025 Loraine McIlwain Bell Trustee Awards and the Nellie Rose McCrory Service Excellence Award were presented to distinguished employees at UWA.
Catalina Casaru first set foot in the United States as a determined high school student eager to make her mark in competitive swimming. Today, she is a dual citizen of the U.S. and Romania and an associate professor of Exercise Science at the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç.

Dr. Jacob Snyder serves as an associate professor at UWA, leading a new degree in the College of Liberal Arts: Politics and Justice. He envisions the degree as a steppingstone for students interested in law and politics.
The Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç (UWA) Board of Trustees has selected Dr. Todd G. Fritch as the next president of the institution.
Sharon Valverde has researched moose in Alaska, elk in New Mexico, and mule deer in Texas. However, nothing in her extensive experience in deer ecology and management prepared the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç assistant professor and researcher to dip her toes into the study of bats. Joining her in this research is Taylor Underwood, a graduate assistant in the Master of Science in Conservation Biology program.
