A new scholarship endowment will honor a family legacy at the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç, its namesake the parents of Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉçPresident Ken Tucker. The Dr. Betty Jean and Howard Tucker Endowed Scholarship, endowed at $150,000, is a transformative gift that will provide perpetual support for students for many years to come.

The Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç’s proposal to freeze tuition for the seventh consecutive year has been approved by its board of trustees at their June quarterly meeting. The decision comes as part of the board’s approval of the school’s operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year, and this reaffirms UWA’s various rankings as one of the best values of any university in the state.

Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉçis opening its doors to Birmingham-Southern College students by offering transfer assistance through academic and housing scholarships.
To encourage safety on the road before the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç’s spring break, March 25 through 29, the University Police Department is offering two events: a tire change instructional clinic Wednesday, March 20, from 1-3 p.m. and an impaired driving and Fatal Vision® presentation Thursday, March 21 beginning at 6 p.m. that lasts approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
Visual artist Garland Farwell kicked off a year-long artist-residency, Monday, Feb. 19 at the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç’s Julia Tutwiler Library, with a folk-art exhibit of hex signs, a uniquely American art form and best-known symbol of the Pennsylvania Dutch, interpreted through an African American, southern and rural lens.

The Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç has recorded its highest enrollment in university history for the fall of 2023, with total enrollment at 6,195. The nearly-six percent increase from the previous fall represents both on-campus and online enrollment, ranging from freshman undergraduate through doctoral degree students.
A regional state university in Alabama’s historic Black Belt, bearing the label ‘rural university’ is an acknowledgement administration and faculty no longer avoid or downplay. Instead, they’re leaning into the notion and turning a once-perceived negative into a national brand that’s assuming a significant role in modernizing higher education in rural America.
The Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç Police Department has brought back a successful campus transportation program that’s designed with both convenience and safety in mind. Student Nighttime Auxiliary Patrol, sponsored by Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉçPolice Department, provides a safe option for on-campus transportation during from 6 p.m. until midnight, Sunday through Thursday.
