Homecoming week kicks off with one of the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉçcampus’s favorite traditions, the search for the Key to Victory. Clues for the Key to Victory will be released to students beginning Monday, Oct. 9, at 9 a.m. and continuing at noon and 3 p.m. each day until the key is found and turned in at Brock 202. The student who finds the key wins $1,000.

The Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç has launched a new design for its collegiate license plate available to Alabama residents. The design, which will be available August 1, features red and white University branding, including a sleek and fierce red and white tiger profile. Proceeds from sales of the plate benefit a scholarship program at UWA.

Citing the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç’s dedication to safety and emergency preparedness, the National Weather Service has renewed UWA’s status as a StormReady University. The status lasts through April 21, 2026.

The Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç’s proposal to freeze tuition for the sixth consecutive year has been approved by its board of trustees. The decision comes as part of the board’s approval of the school’s operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year, and this reaffirms UWA’s various rankings as one of the best values of any university in the state

This spring’s rededication of a historic 19th-century Alabama church has given the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç a pastoral addition to its roster of campus event spaces.

Though only a freshman, Caroline McKinley’s adoration of the arts is already blossoming at the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç. Last fall, she worked behind the scenes with the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉçTheatre and performed as a member of the marching band’s color guard.

An upcoming addition to the լÄи£ÀûÉç campus will provide faculty, students and staff a unique outdoor space suitable for a variety of uses.

To honor the 2023 theme of Black History Month, the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç is spotlighting its students, faculty, staff and a first-time member of the Alabama State Legislature.
Midway between the state capitals of Alabama and Mississippi — keystone sites of the civil rights movement — sits the Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉç campus. Other locations, namely Birmingham and Atlanta, are easy drives. It’s a stroke of geographic serendipity that Õ¬Äи£ÀûÉçstudent engagement teams want to explore.
